Our Champions
The Lloydminster Boxing Club stands as a powerhouse, comprising both male and female members spanning across youth and adult categories, showcasing their prowess across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and throughout Canada, proudly representing our border city.
At the Saskatchewan Provincial Championships, our track record speaks volumes: over the past 7 years, numerous boxers have triumphantly represented Lloydminster, hands raised in victory. Our club boasts multiple members who have furthered their success, proudly carrying the Saskatchewan banner at larger-scale tournaments like Nationals.
Entering 2024, our emphasis remains on getting new boxers into the ring, particularly focusing on our novice group of boxers with under 10 fights. Simultaneously, our devoted coaches channel their individual attention towards honing the skills of our high-performance team and open class boxers.
This meticulous approach ensures they are primed to showcase their best performances on the grand stages of National and International competitions.
OUR Head Coaches
The Lloydminster Boxing Club is under the guidance of a family deeply embedded in the sport. At a mere 11 years old, Devon and his brother began their boxing journey, training under the late Gordon "Butch" Blanchard at the original Lloydminster Boxing Club.
Devon's passion for the sport propelled him to numerous tournament victories, competing at the highest levels, including international competitions. A pivotal member of the "Sask First" team, Devon crisscrossed Canada, proudly representing our border city—inspiring his boxers today. In 2016, Devon rekindled the spirit of the Lloydminster Boxing Club with a single goal: to mold champions, both inside and outside the ring.
Stepping into the head trainer role during the COVID-19 pandemic, Devon's son, Austin, carries forward the family legacy. With a wealth of knowledge passed down from his father as well as other coaches from across Alberta and Saskatchewan, Austin boasts experience as both a competitor and a coach. Among his proudest accomplishments is guiding his youth teams through 2022-2023, establishing a dominant and fiercely competitive presence in Western Canada, including 6 boxers with an undefeated 2023 season.
Our History
Here is an original mini-documentary talking about the Burgess' inspiration and mission when it comes to Lloydminster Boxing Club. This was over 7 years ago, and many things have changed but our core values remain the same: Make Champions, In & Out of the Ring.
